Reiki means ‘universal life energy’ and is an ancient eastern healing therapy which promotes relaxation, de-stresses and re-energises both body and mind.
Reiki can help the body to reach an inner state of harmony – physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Reiki can safely be used alongside other complementary therapies and conventional medicine.
A Reiki treatment involves laying down on a treatment couch or sitting in a chair (fully clothed), while the practitioner places their hands on the client’s body in a series of positions. Treatments usually last an hour.
I have been a volunteer Reiki therapist with Focus – a cancer support charity – based in the oncology department of Cheltenham General Hospital since April 2012.
